Are you suitable?

The best way to find out which treatment is best for you, lens surgery or laser surgery, is to come and see us so that we can examine your eyes and discuss your needs. Older patients may want to click on the link to Clear lens replacement. Younger patients (<40) with extreme prescriptions not suitable for Laser treatment, may wish to look at the option of Phakic Intra Ocular lenses shown to the left of this page.

Lens surgery may be more appropriate if you are too long or short-sighted for safe laser treatment. As a rough guide this means if you are more than about -10.00 for short-sighted people and more than about +5.00 for long-sighted people, or if you have extreme astigmatism of about 5.00 units or more.

For older patients, particularly patients over the age of 60, lens surgery has the distinct advantage that it will remain stable in old age and will also remove the risk of cataracts developing in later life.

If you know your approximate prescription you can click here and follow the table to get a rough idea as to which treatments may be most suitable and to find out more about your prescription.

The additional sub headings on the left have some further information.  Please don't hesitate to call or email us if you need any further information.
