Are you suitable?

The best way to find out which treatment is best for you, lens surgery or laser surgery, is to come and see us so that we can examine your eyes and discuss your needs.

Lens surgery may be more appropriate if you are too long or short-sighted for safe laser treatment. As a rough guide this means if you are more than about -10.00 for short-sighted people and more than about +5.00 for long-sighted people, or if you have extreme astigmatism of about 5.00 units or more.

For older patients, particularly patients over the age of 60, lens surgery has the distinct advantage that it will remain stable in old age and will also remove the risk of cataracts developing in later life.
